Sun Ra and the Intergalactic Research Arkestra [Original Souvenir Program for Sun Ra's First UK Performance]

London: Music Now, 1970. Paperback. 16pp. Light rubbing to rear with a small spot, else very good in publisher's stapled wraps. Very good. Item #48798

Though technically a program, only about two pages are dedicated to the list of musicians and one or two to Music Now, the remainder consists of three essays and five poems an could likely be the first time they appeared in book form outside the US.

This, Sun Ra's first performance in the UK was one of the most spectacular ever held in the country. The show had fire eaters, a golden robed dancer carrying a sun symbol, tornadoes of percussion, eerie cello glissandi, ferocious blasts and tendrils of electronic sound from Sun Ra on Farfisa and Moog organ. Needles to say, it was a triumph for the audience, but posterity lost out as the only recording available has terrible sound quality.
